PURPOSE: To determine the safety and efficacy of combined external beam irradiation and external regional hyperthermia in the treatment of adenocarcinoma of the prostate.

PURPOSE: Hyperthermia has been used in several trials to treat pelvic cancers without excessive toxicity and with positive results. The aim of this study was to evaluate feasibility and results in terms of biochemical recurrence-free, disease-free survival, overall survival, and treatment toxicity profile of hyperthermia combined with radiotherapy in locally advanced high risk prostate cancer.
Authors:Kalapurakal JA, Pierce M, Chen A, Sathiaseelan V. Publication: Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys. 2003 Nov 1;57(3):654-64.
PURPOSE: To present a preliminary report on the feasibility, efficacy, and toxicity of irradiation (RT) and hyperthermia (HT) in patients with locally advanced, hormone-refractory prostate cancer (LAHRPC) who may or may not have received prior RT.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this report is to present the preliminary results of re-irradiation and external hyperthermia in patients with locally advanced, previously irradiated, hormone refractory prostate cancer.
PURPOSE: Since long-term results of the standard treatment of locally advanced or recurrent prostatic carcinoma are unsatisfactory, the role for additional regional hyperthermia was evaluated in a phase I/II study.
